Job Title: Manager, Senior Operations

Department: Scandinavian Full loads

Reports To: General Manager

Location: Immingham

Job Purpose: Lead and develop the team in delivering high service and operational efficiency. Manage all aspects of operational performance to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of key performance indicators and customer service levels. This role is responsible for team leadership, operational excellence, budget management, and continuous improvement while promoting the company’s professional image and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Set KPIs and develop solutions to achieve all operational targets focused on service, cost, and efficiency.
  2. Motivate, develop, and lead the operational team, ensuring they possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude to drive productivity and accuracy.
  3. Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, development, and disciplinary processes in coordination with HR, ensuring alignment with company standards and values.
  4. Conduct regular performance reviews and actively implement the People Plan/appraisal system to support employee engagement and development.
  5. Champion the company’s reputation by maintaining a professional approach and facilitating regular communication with teams through one-to-one management, briefings, and updates on company developments.
  6. Promote, support, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
  7. Contribute to department budget planning and business objectives, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
  8. Drive efficiencies within the departments, focusing on cost control and process optimization.
  9. Lead collaboration across departments.

Senior Management Key Tasks:

  1. Produce weekly KPI figures and develop solutions to maintain target levels.
  2. Prepare and manage budget and forecasting reports.
  3. Monitor and report customer performance metrics, including volumes, turnover, and gross profit.
  4. Action Net Promoter Score (NPS) feedback and implement improvements.
  5. Manage invoice controls and bad debt.
  6. Maintain trailer balance per market and align market tariffs with current demands.
  7. Engage with partners through regular meetings and collaboration.
  8. Manage customer weekly forecasts and provide operational insights to support customer growth.
  9. Work alongside the General Manager to support ongoing customer development initiatives.
  10. Maintain control over Span Set usage and procedures.
  11. Address and resolve client complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  12. Monitor and control costs such as quay rent, trailer hire, and empty running.

Skills & Experience Required:

  1. Proven experience in a logistics management role.
  2. Strong leadership and people management skills.
  3. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  4. High-level proficiency in reporting, budgeting, and data analysis.
  5. Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Knowledge of freight, import/export operations, and market-specific logistics is essential.
