The opportunity
EY collaborates with some of the world's largest Private Equity funds, supporting their asset acquisition, transformation, and sale processes. Many of our major UK & EMEIA-headquartered funds must comply with SEC Independence restrictions. This requires EY to proactively monitor and manage all engagements with these funds, including at the asset level, to ensure adherence to SEC, EU PIE & UK PIE/OEPI, and EY independence standards.
This role offers significant scope to enhance and streamline processes.
Your key responsibilities
- Oversee updates and maintenance of EY's GIS, responding to queries from the Global Delivery Services (India-based shared service center), account teams, and independence leaders, ensuring timely processing of requests.
- Conduct initial reviews of Quarterly Independence Summary Memos (ISM) and supporting documents, collaborating with the Independence Senior Associate and GDS to ensure all engagement partners respond promptly to quarterly independence confirmation requests, and act as a point of escalation.
- Support PACE questionnaire responses, assisting engagement teams as needed.
- Monitor press and industry news for acquisitions and disposals related to focus accounts.
- Establish appropriate account structures to support teams in meeting regulatory requirements.
- Maintain documentation and promote independence procedures specific to Private Equity.
- Coordinate with the PE Independence & Compliance Senior Manager on complex regulatory issues and facilitate resolutions.
- Ensure indicators are set for investees with US-listed instruments and that appropriate channels are in place.
- Collaborate with US counterparts to share best practices and improve process efficiencies.
- Perform checks such as revenue verification (PEAR) versus SOWs/PACEs, GFIS checks, and testing ELs to ensure SEC compliance.
- Follow up on controlled entities with overseas EY member firms, ensuring awareness of requirements and capacity to identify potential issues.
Skills and attributes for success
Desired
- Qualified accountants or auditors with a solid understanding of independence concepts.
- Experience in private equity or investment banking risk management or compliance (not essential but advantageous).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across all levels.
Qualifications
- Understanding and application of compliance and independence principles and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
