Overview

Manager, Permissions, Copyrights, and Assignments

Build the Future

The Manager, Permissions, Copyrights, and Assignments is primarily responsible for leading the team which executes Permissions Granting, Copyright Registrations, and Author Royalty Contract Assignments for McGraw Hill’s intellectual property as well as support other Royalty Processes.

How Will You Make an Impact?

This position will also lead to the use of Artificial Intelligence efforts across the Royalty Operations team. The key focus areas are the continuous improvement and implementation of related processes and tools as well as data management and reporting including the development of KPIs related to operations and policies.

What can you expect from the position:

  • Establishment, maintenance, and execution of Permissions, Copyrights, and Assignments processes. Recommend and execute ideas to enhance the end user experience.
  • Development and maintenance of key data / reporting required by the department, business, and/or third parties. Assist in development of KPIs for Permissions, Copyrights, and Assignments operations and related to end user experience.
  • Development of compliance strategies and reporting related to MH policies and processes to protect MH intellectual property while optimizing MH income associated with use of MH content through Permissions licenses.
  • Act as primary liaison with Legal and businesses for Permissions, Copyrights, and Assignments.
  • Manage the end-to-end Author Royalty Assignments process by working with team members across Royalty Operations and Legal with direct responsibility for assignment drafting and execution.
  • Lead Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives across Royalty Operations as well as partnering with other Global Procurement Operations and MH teams.
  • Lead the training strategy for Permissions, Copyrights, and Assignments Operations to train our end users in process, including the creation of training materials and standard operating procedures as well as overseeing administration of customer resource sites and tools both internal (e.g., Spark, MH Internet, etc.) and external (e.g., Copyright Clearance Center; Access Text Network; etc.).
  • Support other Royalty processes (e.g., Royalty Entry) through management of cross functional resources.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders across McGraw Hill including Content Licensing, Business and International Permissions, Content Management teams to ensure streamlined processes.

What can you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with a contract management system, such as Ariba, Salesforce, or Oracle, etc. is preferred
  • Experience with Author Royalty contracts and copyright law
  • Experience with using AI tools related to contract preparation, contract analysis, and data and terms extraction
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft tools, especially Excel and Word
