People are the heart of everything that makes Channel 4 the unique and successful broadcaster that it is. The people team makes sure we attract and retain the best, supporting the three core business areas of Creative, Commercial and Operations.

As a team, we deliver on the people strategy that underpins the Channel 4 FastForward strategy. Teams include Talent, L&D, People Partnering, Reward, Internal Comms and People Operations, working together to support and coach the business to improve and evolve, ensuring that the life cycle of each employee is positive and culturally supportive.

JOB PURPOSE
Making Strategy Happen
  • Work side-by-side with the People leadership team to shape and execute our People strategy, ensuring it aligns with our company goals.
  • Lead key People initiatives, making sure they're not just great ideas but actually get done.
  • Keep an eye on our performance metrics, using data insights to drive smart decisions.
  • Create compelling presentations, reports, and communications that keep everyone informed and inspired.
Keeping Things Running Smoothly
  • Identify ways to streamline how we work, making the People team more efficient and effective.
  • Act as a sounding board for the People leadership team, helping to refine ideas and implement solutions.
  • Manage cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment, follow-through, and impact.
  • Track progress on major initiatives, making sure we're hitting milestones and staying on course.
  • Oversee a People function project portfolio, ensuring visibility, prioritisation, and resource alignment.
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions to track key initiatives, risks, and dependencies across the People team.
  • Ensure project owners have the right tools, resources, and governance to execute effectively.
Building Strong Relationships
  • Be the go-to connection between the People team and the rest of the business, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Attend meetings, summarise discussions, and ensure follow-ups happen on behalf of the People Director when needed.
  • Help shape and support change initiatives, employee engagement efforts, and leadership alignment.
Creating an Amazing Workplace
  • Champion our culture and values, making sure they shine through in everything we do.
  • Lead and support initiatives that enhance the employee experience and help our people thrive.
  • Bring fresh ideas and best practices to help us build a workplace where everyone feels included and empowered.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • 5+ years in HR and/or Strategy
  • A problem-solver who sees challenges as opportunities and loves finding smart, practical solutions.
  • Strong project and portfolio management skills, with experience tracking and coordinating multiple projects.
  • A highly effective operator who knows how to get from vision to execution.
  • Data-savvy, comfortable with numbers, and able to use insights to guide decision making.
  • Highly Tech literate, promotes the progress use of Technology to enhance the department's ways of working together, ability to train and increase people's knowledge of technology.
  • A strong communicator who can translate complex ideas into clear, engaging messages.
  • A connector who builds relationships effortlessly and knows how to get people working together.
  • Flexible and adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Discreet and trustworthy, handling sensitive topics with professionalism and care.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Experience working in creative environments.
  • Familiarity with HR & project management platforms (we use Sage People & monday.com).
  • Exposure to change management, leadership development, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Background in business operations, management consulting, or organisational development.
Hybrid Working

From September 2023 employees will be working minimum 3 days per week in their office location. The other 2 days should be working from home. This is to create more time for collaboration, creativity, learning and feedback. We also have a working from another location policy for up to 10 days. This pattern is subject to future changes which would be communicated in advance to provide employees with adequate notice of any change.
