Role Overview

The successful candidate will lead Telesat’s engagement with regulators in the Middle East and Africa to facilitate, obtain, and protect market access and spectrum rights for Telesat’s satellites and services, including ITU activities and other regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Engage directly with national regulatory authorities in the region.
  2. Secure new licenses/authorizations and maintain existing ones, either directly or through distribution channels.
  3. Prepare documentation supporting license/authorization applications.
  4. Negotiate complex regulatory matters to influence and optimize the regional framework.
  5. Support the commercial team and partners with regulatory insights for market access.
  6. Lead or support regional consultations, industry actions, and coalitions impacting Telesat’s market and spectrum access.
  7. Represent Telesat in regional forums such as ASMG and ATU, and international forums like ITU-R.
  8. Assist with market access initiatives in other regions as needed.
  9. Develop proposals to protect Telesat’s long-term regulatory interests.
  10. Contribute to short and long-term planning for corporate development.
Education & Experience
  1. Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  2. Master’s degree is an asset.
  3. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in satellite communications related to market access, regulatory frameworks, and ITU Radio Regulations.
