Maintenance Manager

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Maintenance Manager to lead the hotel's maintenance and engineering operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical assets, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests and associates, and developing effective preventive maintenance programs.

The Maintenance Manager will work in both an office and hands‑on hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and support the maintenance team in the daily operation and upkeep of the hotel.
  • Oversee general maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, locksmithing, kitchen equipment, and other hotel systems.
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, and other departments to respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems.
  • Schedule and monitor preventive maintenance and repair work to ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, mechanical rooms, equipment, and exterior areas.
  • Train, coach, and supervise maintenance staff, assign daily responsibilities, and monitor performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment histories, and preventive maintenance documentation.
  • Perform hands‑on repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting when required.
  • Oversee guest room repairs, grounds maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and hotel equipment.
  • Maintain swimming pool equipment and ensure proper water testing and chemical levels in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor and manage the hotel's energy consumption, utilities, mechanical equipment, and building systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers and oversee external maintenance and repair projects.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training maintenance team members as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, fire regulations, health and safety requirements, and Marriott brand standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that all maintenance employees follow proper safety procedures.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and remain available on an on-call basis when required.
  • Support hotel inspections, audits, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, appearance, functionality, and overall condition throughout the property.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience in hotel maintenance, building operations, engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Previous hotel maintenance or hospitality experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
  • An engineering degree, diploma, trade certification, or related technical education is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, fire regulations, health and safety requirements, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Strong focus on safety and quality standards.
  • Location: London, Ontario
  • Salary: $50,000?$55,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications
  • Expected Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week. Working hours may vary depending on operational and business needs.
