In your day-to-day role, you will:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation, filing, and payment of VAT, ESL/ESPL, Intrastat, SAF-T, and other indirect tax reports across the EMEA region.
- Work closely with our Indirect Tax Advisory team to monitor, analyze, and evaluate indirect tax law changes impacting PayPal.
- Partner with our third-party compliance service providers to review/approve tax filings, identify process improvements, and update procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with Shared Service to provide accurate, reconciled data to compliance service providers, ensure on-time tax payments, and manage all aspects of VAT accounting.
- Work with other indirect tax compliance colleagues globally to drive standardized, efficient, and effective processes.
- Monitor ERP and tax engine output to ensure accuracy, partnering with Advisory and IT to resolve issues.
- Identify and implement process enhancements and automation opportunities to improve indirect tax reporting efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with Tax Advisory and key cross-functional partners in Shared Service, IT, Accounts Payable, and Accounting.
- Support audit management efforts by providing audit-ready files and documentation.
- Develop strategies to mitigate indirect tax compliance risks and seize opportunities.
- Respond promptly to notices and address administrative updates such as license renewals.
- Maintain file archives according to PayPal’s document retention policies.
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or related field from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of indirect tax compliance experience at Big 4 firms or large multinational corporations.
- Thorough understanding of indirect tax compliance across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
- Project management skills.
- Strong command of English, with excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to non-tax audiences.
- Proficiency with SAP ECC or S/4 Hana.
Preferred:
- Experience with tax engine functionality, ideally OneSource.
- Chartered Accountancy qualification.
- Experience with tax reporting tools and automation software.
- Fintech industry experience.
