CPI has six offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

CPI is known as a leader in tracking sustainable investment trends, identifying innovative business models, and supporting solutions that can drive the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient, and inclusive economy. We focus on finance, bringing the right people together, and applying analytical rigor.

CPI’s Net Zero Finance Tracker (NZFT) is a collaborative, interactive data platform assessing the progress of private financial institutions (FIs) on climate commitments and impacts. It covers nearly 1000 FIs, aggregating around 200 datasets from 50 providers.

About the role

We seek a candidate to lead the implementation and development of the NZFT and the private sector integrity workstream. The role involves guiding analysts, project managers, and generating ideas for business and research development. You will mentor team members, ensure high-quality, timely outputs, and develop methodologies linking indicators to regulatory and voluntary Net Zero frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in net-zero data initiatives, institutional investors (especially pension funds), large datasets, and data quality assurance. Engagement with stakeholders and representation at events are key components.

Key responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Associate Director on strategic goals for NZFT.
  • Stay informed on regulatory and voluntary Net Zero frameworks and inform the team.
  • Manage external deliverables and internal milestones, ensuring proper resource allocation.
  • Develop methodologies for assessing and scoring Net Zero responses, focusing on real economy impacts.
  • Engage with data providers and oversee data pipeline design.
  • Ensure quality assurance of outputs, support data analysis, and improve data processes.
  • Identify funding and business opportunities.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships, especially within the finance industry.
  • Represent CPI at events, sharing research insights.
  • Provide analytical support across CPI projects.
People Management
  • Serve as a senior guide within NZFT, managing at least two direct reports.
  • Oversee staffing, resource management, and foster a positive team culture.
Experience, Skills, and Attributes

Core:

  • Post-graduate degree or PhD in Economics, Finance, or relevant professional qualification.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets and institutional investors, especially pension funds.
  • Knowledge of climate-related reporting standards and taxonomies.
  • Experience with net-zero data initiatives and methodologies.
  • Analysis experience in green finance and climate projects.
  • Handling large datasets with error-check routines.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and judgment skills.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Autonomous working style with strategic insight.
  • Commitment to CPI’s mission and values.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.

Preferred:

  • Programming knowledge, especially Python, for data processing and analysis.
  • Data visualization skills and familiarity with visualization libraries.
