Department information and context: In the Finance Transformation team, we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance function and generate real insights to help deliver value to the business. Our Financial Transformation practice focuses on creating a digitally enabled, human-centric and integrated finance function. We work with leading corporate clients on technology implementations, efficiency improvements and maturity advancement, delivering value-adding change across finance functions with a standardised delivery model that supports professional client service.

The role sits within our Finance Transformation team, which brings together consulting professionals with experience in implementing change in finance functions for large corporate clients. The team helps clients move from traditional finance to a co-pilot role for the business, driving growth and better decision making.

Responsibilities
  • Mobilising and managing small to medium sized transformation programmes including planning, managing and executing the delivery of engagements
  • Organising work packages, overseeing data gathering and analysis, summarising insights and facilitating workshops to deliver on KPMG's scope of work for a programme
  • Maintaining relationships with key client stakeholders and collaborating with them to co-deliver a programme
  • Identifying and exploring finance operating model improvement opportunities
  • Overseeing the writing of client reports and the review and quality assurance of work products
  • Management of small to medium sized engagement teams including both internal KPMG and external client team members
  • Taking responsibility for identifying and managing risks, engagement assurance, and managing project budgets
  • Supporting Directors and Partners in ensuring that the Firm's risk management framework is appropriately implemented
  • Supporting the origination of opportunities for the firm through development of client relationships and expanding existing engagements
  • Supporting senior colleagues with the preparation of the Firm's response to client issued requests for proposals (RFPs), including managing RFP responses and drafting proposals
  • Building and leveraging internal and external relationships to support senior colleagues in developing sales opportunities
  • Supporting senior colleagues in developing market-leading materials and a voice in the market through external blogs and external events
  • Taking on performance management responsibilities for junior staff, contributing to talent reviews and supporting career progression
  • Contributing to formal training, knowledge sharing and networking activities for the team
  • Supervising, coaching and reviewing the work performed by peers
  • Mentoring colleagues within the team and the wider firm, promoting cultural improvement and living the KPMG values
  • Contributing to the development of KPMG-specific methodology and intellectual property
  • Supporting senior colleagues with internal operational responsibilities for the finance transformation team, including revenue planning, resourcing, recruitment and team development
Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Our Finance Transformation offering spans the finance function, implementing change to improve all layers of the operating model. Successful candidates should have:

  • 6 or more years' experience in the finance function of leading corporate companies, or client-facing audit or consulting experience at a professional services firm
  • A proven ability to manage finance improvement projects in a leading finance function
  • Strong knowledge of core finance processes (e.g., record to report, procure to pay, order to cash, project accounting) and their interdependencies with other processes
  • Experience with one of the major ERP technologies (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Workday)
  • A solid understanding of finance function operating models, including systems, data, processes, controls and governance
  • Ability to shape deliverables to meet desired client outcomes
  • Ability to articulate current challenges facing finance functions, including future trends and nascent technology
  • Experience in one or more sectors such as Aerospace & Defence, Consumer Markets, Energy, Industrial Manufacturing, Leisure, Life Sciences, Retail, Technology, Media & Telecommunications
  • People management experience, including line management and performance management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships and deliver clear messages to senior finance teams or clients
  • Experience in implementing finance change programmes
  • Relevant finance qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of how finance processes are enabled within a finance systems landscape, with a focus on major ERP technologies
