Job description

The Manager Engineering Operations (MEO) oversees all aspects of the site’s critical physical infrastructure, ensuring high-quality activities without negative impacts on customers. The MEO provides technical expertise to plan, coordinate, and manage the Data Centre’s equipment, systems, and infrastructure for operational excellence, prioritizing safety and risk reduction.

What you’ll do

  1. Provide strategic support and operational leadership as the deputy to the Data Centre Manager, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  2. Lead and mentor Lead Engineers and Site Engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  3. Oversee mechanical/electrical operations, maintenance, and energy management, ensuring safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  4. Act as the Senior Approved Person for the site, overseeing complex maintenance jobs and safety protocols.
  5. Coordinate all mechanical/electrical operations and maintenance programs, minimizing risks and ensuring compliance.
  6. Manage job kick-offs and activities, ensuring adherence to policies and standards.
  7. Serve as the escalation point for incidents affecting service quality and SLAs, leading mitigation efforts.
  8. Track maintenance and customer activities, providing updates to management.
  9. Coordinate with vendors and monitor performance through KPIs.

What you’ll need

  • Experience in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments, preferably in IT/Telecoms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical/engineering field.
  • Experience in data centres or similar environments.
  • Understanding of building systems’ design and operations.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure components like UPS, Generators, Cooling systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams.
  • Experience with maintenance systems; ITIL or ServiceNow experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership and mentorship abilities.
