The opportunity

In this AI & Data consulting role, you will work collaboratively with our clients to enhance their ability to solve complex business problems by leading engagements related to the deployment of Data Platforms such as Databricks.

We provide expertise and delivery across two core areas:

  • Data Architecture & Engineering – Focusing on next-generation data platforms, architecture, and implementation, making data available and trusted to deliver on AI priorities.
  • Data Management & Strategy – Supporting our clients in managing AI & Data Risk, defining AI & Data Strategies, designing Target Operating Models, and enabling Data Offices that are transformational to their business.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage a delivery team on Financial Services Data Platform transformation programmes, including roles such as target state architecture scoping, data analysis, solution design, and end-to-end implementation management. Expect significant people leadership responsibilities and engagement with senior client members.
  • Business development; developing long-term trusted advisor relationships with clients and Data Platform vendors, supporting RFP responses, and contributing to thought leadership articles.
  • Manage and track engagement financials, including time management, billing, and invoicing.
  • Develop our people through coaching, talent development, recruitment, and performance management.
  • Ensure adherence to internal risk and admin processes.
  • Support the development of new EY data solutions and methods to improve effectiveness and reduce costs.
  • Participate actively in the local Financial Services ecosystem, collaborating with clients, FinTechs, and Universities to position Scotland as a leader in Financial Services.

Skills and attributes for success

Qualifications include:

  • Interest and awareness in data, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of FS experience in Banking, Capital Markets, or Insurance sectors.
  • Experience with Data Platform Technologies, understanding Databricks architecture, data warehousing, and data sharing. Skills in SQL and/or Python for data transformation and analysis. Familiarity with data engineering and BI tools such as dbt, Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, and Sigma. Experience deploying and interacting with Large Language Models and developing machine learning models.
  • Experience with Agile and traditional SDLC methodologies.
  • Perspective on the evolution of the FS industry and the influence of technology and FinTech.
  • Experience creating and launching new AI & Data propositions or solutions.
  • Previous consulting experience is a plus, but curiosity and ambition are valued.
  • Certifications like Databricks Certified Data Analyst are advantageous but not essential; EY supports professional development.
