Job Purpose

The Credit Risk Manager is part of the Risk Oversight Department within the second line of defense, with specific responsibilities within ICEU. The candidate will be a key member of the team responsible for counterparty risk management, including carrying out all aspects of day-to-day risk management duties and assisting in developing and implementing enhancements to risk management tools, models, and processes. The clearing house interacts with various types of companies as counterparties, including banks, corporates, brokers, and futures commission merchants, either through membership, client activity, or treasury services.

The Risk Oversight Department of ICE Clear Europe (ICEU) is an independent, second line of defense risk function that develops and manages frameworks for identifying, assessing, and reporting risks. It performs independent model validation and encompasses teams focused on Enterprise Risk Management, Credit Risk Management, and Model Risk Management, covering all risks faced by the clearing house, such as model risk, market risk, credit, liquidity, investment, and operational risks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production of daily and periodic risk reports and dashboards for committees and stakeholders.
  • Produce detailed counterparty credit risk reviews based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, and deliver recommendations for credit risk management.
  • Conduct counterparty onboarding, ensuring compliance with membership or eligibility criteria.
  • Understand internal credit scoring and risk drivers, including market data and financial statement analysis.
  • Engage with external counterparties for credit reviews, business development updates, and topical issues.
  • Prepare and present materials and agendas for credit review meetings.
  • Monitor risk metrics and events using news, data sources, quantitative models, and internal tools; explain incidents supported by facts and collaborate with the quantitative team.
  • Ensure compliance with rules, policies, and procedures within the Credit team.
  • Assist with information requests and due diligence from auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of tools, models, and processes through testing, implementation, and input during development projects.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or advanced degree in finance, mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in Financial Services Credit Risk Management or similar analytical roles.
  • Strong understanding of financial statement components and key risk indicators within them.
  • Knowledge of market indicators such as Credit Default Swaps (CDS) and shares.
  • Experience working with credit risk models.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, infrastructure, and regulatory environment.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail, delivering accurate and timely results.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills and ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
  • Credibility and communication skills suitable for engaging with senior management and business leaders.
  • Intermediate Excel skills; desirable skills include SQL and Tableau.
  • Experience in a Clearing House or the Clearing business is preferred but not essential.
