The team

KPMG's Major Projects Advisory (MPA) team collaborates with industry-leading organisations to address major infrastructure challenges. As a market leader, we serve a diverse client base across the commercial and public sectors, delivering impactful projects and programmes that are well-known.

We focus on providing clarity to Boards, Executives, and SROs at major organisations, overseeing their project and programme delivery. Our work spans critical UK infrastructure sectors including transport, natural resources, energy, utilities, and more.

Our team comprises industry specialists with extensive construction experience, both in the UK and internationally.

Due to ongoing growth, we are investing further in our team to enhance our capabilities. This is a significant opportunity to join one of our fastest-growing areas.

The role

We seek an innovative professional at manager level with experience in planning, scheduling, and project controls in construction. This client-facing role involves applying your expertise to develop tailored solutions and managing key relationships. The position is based in London, Birmingham, or Manchester, with travel across the UK and occasionally overseas.

The team member

Ideal candidates will have strong post-qualification experience in planning and project controls within major projects and programmes, from consulting, industry, or government roles.

Your experience should include:

  • Leading and managing tasks such as monitoring, reporting, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and change control
  • Advising clients in consulting environments or industry roles
  • Experience in infrastructure projects within sectors like transport, defence, power, utilities, or nuclear
  • Familiarity with UK public sector project delivery
  • Team management and a passion for project controls
  • Experience with earned value management standards
  • Developing project controls tools and reports
  • Risk analysis and performance monitoring
  • Strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, MS Project, and Oracle P6
