Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) Information Technology in London seeks an experienced Manager, Capital Markets Application Engineering to lead a mature engineering and development function. The team builds tools underpinning trading platforms, with observability, market data capture, injector tools, and risk control applications at its core.

You will guide architecture, design, and delivery for critical systems and partner across business and technology teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a software developer or systems integration engineer.
• Experience leading a team
• Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to work effectively with all organisational levels
• Ability to partner with business and technology stakeholders
• Pragmatic, flexible, and able to respond effectively under pressure
• Use of JIRA to create epics, stories, backlog prioritisation, planning, reporting, velocity
• Good understanding of Agile software development
• Knowledge of Java, Python
• Familiarity with AWS architecture such as: VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, Security Groups, RDS
• CICD tooling such as GIT, Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team consisting of developers, integration and DevOps engineers, and other technical specialists
• Embed a positive, proactive, and collaborative team culture
• Hire the best talent, conduct performance reviews, and drive career development to grow engineers into future leaders
• Partner with the business and technology teams to deliver technology services supporting critical trading platforms
• Providing vision and direction to the development team and stakeholders
• Gain knowledge of the different LSEG Trading systems and a deep understanding of the operational landscape
• Perform architecture reviews and analysis of the trading and operations platforms
• Author and review technical design documents
• Manage the implementation of change without adverse impact to continuity of service, adhering to existing change policy and processes, liaising with other business and technical teams
• Ensure changes are correctly impact assessed and implemented
• Proactively identify operational risks. Provide short term solutions whilst tracking long term resolution.
• Identify and implement operational improvements for processes, performance and reliability
• Assess and implement changes to the operations architecture toolset
• Work closely with project teams to define operations integration requirements and impact changes made to the core platforms.
• Support development changes, providing accurate estimates for time and capital costs, attending project meetings and analysing impact for proposed project work and meeting deadlines
• Develop an understanding of procedures and SLAs for all services supported by the team.
• Remove blockers and actively support the team in meeting sprint/release goals

ROLE SUMMARY:

An experienced developer or systems integration lead is required to join the LSEG Markets Technology team. This is an opportunity to manage a mature, functionally diverse engineering and development function. The team’s core responsibility is to build tools that underpin the resilience and integrity of some of the world's highest-volume trading platforms, including LSE, Turquoise, and FX Matching. Products include, but are not limited to:

• A suite of observability services for logging, metrics, and observability
• Trading message and Market Data capture and reporting
• Injector tools used to validate the health of the market
• Network capture tools to determine the health of data delivery across all points of presence
• Risk control application to perform a diverse set of automated checks

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
