Amazon Freight is part of the Amazon Transportation Services organization responsible for many of Amazon's best-in-class logistics and transportation operations. Amazon Freight allows both small and large businesses to use Amazon to transport products in bulk across Europe. This is an innovative, technology-driven service currently growing rapidly in Europe.

We are looking to hire a professional People Manager responsible for leading a team that develops our strategic portfolios through relationship building, engagement activities, and ensuring a great customer experience. This individual will analyze market data to identify trends and opportunities, utilize an extensive network of industry relationships to gather market intelligence, and execute on business development opportunities. The successful candidate will be results-driven, highly analytical, customer-obsessed, and ready to roll up their sleeves to grow this business.

This role can be based in London, Munich, Berlin, or Luxembourg.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Manage a team of Business Developers or Account Managers
  2. Support individuals in identifying new segments and unlocking new strategic customers with best-in-class service
  3. Maintain a high level of engagement from potential customers and proactively identify their challenges
  4. Build relationships with key stakeholders across the portfolio
  5. Be the voice of the customer to guide product development and iterations
  6. Identify and lead complex projects or initiatives to solve customer pain points and improve experience
  7. Communicate ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all audiences, including writing narratives, business cases, and strategic documentation
  8. Coach and mentor team members

A day in the life

This role sits within the Business Development team, part of Amazon Freight's Commercial team. Focusing on new customer acquisition in the EMEA market, the Manager is expected to manage, coach, and mentor team members on attracting new businesses, tailoring our product to customer needs, and closing business deals with major shippers for Amazon Freight.

About the team

Amazon's Transportation Service (ATS) team is vital for our delivery speed. As part of ATS, you'll join a diverse team that plays a central role in our success, using air, sea, and road transport, as well as state-of-the-art sortation centers. Our team leverages data to drive decisions, making Amazon more innovative and efficient. We prioritize safety and use our expertise to deliver packages quickly, conveniently, and sustainably.

Amazon Freight (AF) is a B2B start-up within ATS in Europe, operational for about 1.5 years. It enables external businesses ('shippers') to utilize Amazon's transportation technology and network to transport products in bulk across Europe. This innovative, scalable, technology-driven logistics solution serves the needs of both small and large businesses.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience in a commercial role (sales/account management)
  • Advanced proficiency in written and verbal German

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in supply chain, business development, or consulting
  • Proficiency in other European languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch)
  • Relevant experience in supply chain, freight industries, or consultancy
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including leadership
  • Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
