Job summary

Newsquest, a leading UK local media organisation, is seeking a finance professional to support reporting, forecasting and analysis within the Shared Support Services department. The role is hybrid, with weekly travel to the Norwich office and occasional travel to Basildon, Colchester, Ipswich or Holborn as required.

You will produce management information, assist with month-end processes, and help drive improvements while ensuring strong financial controls and governance.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
• Experience in a management accounting or assistant accountant role.
• Strong understanding of month-end processes, journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Experience producing management information, financial analysis and reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills and confident handling large data sets.
• Ability to interpret financial information and present to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and cost reallocations.
• Support the production of monthly management accounts and associated commentary.
• Prepare reporting packs and key performance indicators for management review.
• Complete detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior year.
• Assist with year-end schedules, reconciliations and audit requirements.
• Forecasting, budgeting and analysis: prepare weekly profit forecasts and maintain models.
• Build strong relationships with managers and stakeholders across the business.
• Monitor costs and identify unusual movements and opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and standard operating procedures.
