Job summary

HB People Recruitment & HR Specialists is seeking a Practice Accountant in Ormskirk. Office based with flexible hours; full-time or part-time considered, with an option for hybrid working after probation.

The successful candidate will manage a varied client portfolio, handling accounts preparation, taxation, and client support within a friendly, supportive practice environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy practice is essential.
• ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualifications recommended.
• Good knowledge of accounts, VAT, and taxation.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Completion of VAT returns and bookkeeping where required.
• Preparation of personal and corporation tax returns.
• Managing client relationships and responding to queries.
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
• Assisting with management accounts and general practice work.
• Liaising with HMRC where necessary.

Practice Accountant, Ormskirk, up to £45k plus bonus opp

The Role

• The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of clients and be involved in all aspects of accounts preparation, taxation, and client support.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
• Completion of VAT returns and bookkeeping where required
• Preparation of personal and corporation tax returns
• Managing client relationships and responding to queries
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
• Assisting with management accounts and general practice work
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and on time Liaising with HMRC where necessary

About You

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential
• ACA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified, qualified by experience, or currently studying
• Accountancy qualifications are not essential for the right candidate
• Good working knowledge of accounts, VAT, and taxation
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Friendly and professional manner with clients and colleagues
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Experience with cloud accounting software preferred
• Right to work in the UK and be able to start in the location asap.
