Management Accountant

Salary: £50,000 £60,000 per Annum Pro rata
Location: Cambridge
Qualification Required: ACCA / CIMA Qualified

Role Overview

This role is responsible for the end-to-end supervision of finance operations including ledger management, monthly reporting, forecasting, and business planning. It will play a key role in supporting senior leadership through the delivery of accurate and timely financial insight and analysis. The successful candidate will also contribute to system and process improvements, including ERP implementation and strategic planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise Purchase and Sales Ledger activities.
  • Finalise monthly management accounts and submit to Group within the reporting timetable.
  • Upload financial and production hour data on a regular basis.
  • Update and submit monthly order intake data.
  • Prepare monthly P&L narrative covering cash movement, order intake, overhead variances, and working capital changes.
  • Prepare and distribute the Management Accounts Pack to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of Sales and Expense Trackers.
  • Conduct variance analysis to investigate significant deviations from budget or forecast.
  • Coordinate and report weekly cash flows, including narrative explanations.
  • Assist in business planning, including IBP, quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and five-year strategic planning.
  • Perform reconciliation and reporting in relation to weekly cash forecasts to Group.
  • Complete monthly VAT returns and annual insurance returns to Group.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors during audit processes.
  • Support the implementation of a new ERP system.
  • Work with the Financial Controller and Head of Finance on ad hoc project work.

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent professional accounting qualification).
  • Strong educational background.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar finance role, preferably within a manufacturing or project-based environment.
  • Proven management experience and ability to lead a small team or function.
  • Experience in project or programme finance roles.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and delivering to deadlines.
  • Strong communicator confident in both verbal and written communication.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Skilled in data analysis, process evaluation, and financial modelling.
