Suffolk New College is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Management Accountant to join our senior Finance team. In this pivotal role, you’ll partner with senior leaders, drive transformation projects, and help shape the financial future of our multi-campus College.

What you’ll do
- Strategic Leadership: Play a key role in shaping financial strategy and supporting innovative projects across the College.
- Business Partnering: Build strong relationships with senior managers and stakeholders, providing expert financial advice and influencing key decisions.
- Transformation & Innovation: Lead initiatives to modernise financial systems and processes, championing the adoption of new technologies and data-driven decision-making.
- Financial Management: Oversee management accounts, budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a section of the Finance Team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and deliver successful outcomes.
- Compliance & Assurance: Ensure full compliance with VAT, tax, funding body rules, and College financial regulations.
- Visibility: Enjoy visibility and work with colleagues across the College.
What we’re looking for
- Achieved, or actively studying in the final stage, a professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
- Proven experience in a senior finance role, with expertise in financial and management accounting.
- High-level user of Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results under pressure.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented approach and ability to drive change.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
- Fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
- Experience with BluQube or similar accounting systems.
- Knowledge of Power Query, Power BI, and Power Automate.
- Experience in an education environment.
- Track record of initiating and delivering successful transformation projects.
