Job description

Our client, a hugely successful manufacturing business based in Wrexham, is searching for an experienced Management Accountant to join their team, due to internal promotion.

Essentially responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, performing detailed variance analysis, and ensuring accurate financial reporting, you'll business partner with stakeholders and mentor junior team members, contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and statutory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and provide insights to support business performance
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure financial integrity
  • Manage the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
  • Prepare and review accruals, prepayments, and other key journals
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
  • Support statutory reporting and year-end audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales reporting
  • Provide financial guidance to department managers and senior leadership
  • Supervise and mentor the Assistant Management Accountant
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Support purchase and sales ledger functions as needed

Ideally you will be a AAT Qualified (or equivalent) Accountant, working towards ACCA or CIMA will be supported as well. You must have previous experience in a management accounting role, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems (ERP).
