Job Overview
The Management Accountant will play a key role in the finance team by preparing accurate and timely management accounts, analysing key financial data, as well as carrying out the day-to-day accounting functions. This role requires close collaboration with operational and commercial teams to provide insights that drive efficiency, profitability, and informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Preparation of draft monthly management accounts to present to management for review.
· Explanation of variances to budget and prior year in management accounts.
· Preparation of accruals, prepayments and intercompany journals.
· Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process ensuring complete and accurate.
· Production of monthly departmental expenditure reports for department heads.
· Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvement, and system enhancements.
· Weekly steel reporting and reconciliation.
· Weekly factory labour reporting and analysis.
· Collaborate with manufacturing and commercial teams to track and understand cost drivers.
· Ensure adherence to reporting requirements and deadlines on monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
· Ad hoc reports / project work and analysis as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
· Experience of variance analysis & investigation
· High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
· Experience of month end processes (min 3 years)
· Experience in a manufacturing or construction-related industry (preferred)
· Power BI preferred but not essential
· Excellent communication skills (ability to speak to people at all levels)
