Management Accountant

Employer Location: Staffordshire, England, Stoke-on-Trent

Salary: £40,000-£45,000 per annum

Your new company
Your new company is a leader in their field based in Stoke-on-Trent and are looking for a Management Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your new role
  1. Monitor raw material price movements and maintain the product costing in conjunction with the Financial Controller to produce accurate monthly management reporting and forward forecasts.
  2. Assist the Financial Controller in annual budgeting.
  3. Supervise the AR and AP roles and understand the functionality of each role to be able to cover key tasks during times of absence.
  4. Liaise with external parties on statutory reporting, tax and treasury compliance.
  5. Track and maintain operating leases.
  6. Respond to National Statistics requests.
  7. Provide cover in times of absence for payments, so that suppliers are paid correctly.
  8. Send relevant documentation to banks and suppliers, e.g., telegraphic transfers.
  9. Responsible for UK and Ireland VAT reporting.
  10. Maintain Fixed Assets Register.
  11. Review of overheads with key stakeholders and monthly explanations of actuals and variances to Financial Controller.
  12. Reconciliation of month-end bank and purchase ledger balances.
  13. Preparation of accruals (including contractors) and prepayments at month-end and reconciliation of prepayment and accruals accounts.
  14. Reconciliation of Intercompany Balances and calculation of Goods in Transit values as part of the month-end process.
  15. Utilities tracking and accruals.
  16. Deputise for Financial Controller during periods of absence.
  17. Assist auditors and external inspectors with the production of information and compliance with legal/audit requirements.
  18. Work as part of a small multi-skilled team, which demands that all members work flexibly together.
  19. The jobholder will be responsible for supervising a small finance team ensuring they are selected, trained and deemed competent to meet business needs and contribute to delivering functional and business objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
  1. Newly qualified CIMA/ACCA or equivalent accountant.
  2. 3 years' experience in a management accounts role within an industry/commerce organisation.
  3. Proven technical ability.
  4. Knowledge of a computer accounting system.
  5. Knowledge of a manufacturing and distribution system.
  6. Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate well at all levels, write reports and present written information, be diplomatic and influential.
  7. Self-motivation - ability to manage self and workload.
  8. Able to manage, delegate, motivate, monitor and provide direction for the team's activity.
  9. Ability to work flexibly as some travel to UK sites will be required.
  10. Excel knowledge, advanced user level.
