Job description

My Client are seeing an experienced and detail-oriented Management Accountant with a strong background in financial reporting and hands-on experience using Sage accounting software. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing accurate financial data, analysing business performance, and supporting strategic decision-making. They are a fairly small business, so they are looking for someone who isn't afraid to role up their sleeves and get stuck in!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts using Sage (e.g., Sage 50, Sage 200, or Sage Intacct).
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor and report on key financial metrics and business performance indicators.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decisions.
  • Assist with year-end procedures and liaise with external auditors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Support other finance team members with ad hoc financial projects and reporting tasks.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and internal controls.

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA part or fully qualified, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a management accounting role.
  • Strong proficiency with Sage accounting software (Sage 50, 200, or Intacct - please specify).
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
