Career Opportunities: Management Accountant (40146)

Requisition ID40146-Posted10/29/2026-1 (Default)-United Kingdom-Scotland-Renfrew

We're looking for a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Renfrew.

Supporting Howden Compressors, you'll play a key role in a business generating more than $100m in annual revenue, with broad exposure across management accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, SOX compliance, audit support and business partnering.

You'll work closely with colleagues across project management, procurement, operations, sales and leadership teams, helping to drive business performance through insightful financial analysis and support.

Unlike larger, more specialised finance functions, this role offers genuine breadth across the finance discipline. You'll become a key member of the organisation with exposure to the full business rather than a small part of the finance process, making a meaningful contribution to both day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic initiatives.

Whether you're a recently qualified accountant looking to build on a strong technical foundation or an experienced Management Accountant from a manufacturing or engineering environment, we're open to a range of backgrounds. What matters most is your ability to add value, build relationships and contribute positively to the team.

About Us

Howden and Chart Industries are now part of Baker Hughes, a leading energy technology company serving customers across the energy and industrial sectors worldwide. For more than 165 years, Howden has been at the forefront of engineering innovation, providing mission-critical air and gas handling solutions to customers around the world.

Within Howden, our Howden Compressors business designs, manufactures and supports highly engineered compression solutions used in some of the world's most demanding industrial applications.

Finance plays a key role in enabling business performance, partnering closely with operational, commercial and project teams to deliver insight, challenge and support.

As we continue to integrate Howden, Chart and Baker Hughes, our finance teams are helping to shape future processes, reporting standards and ways of working across a global organisation. This creates an exciting opportunity to gain broad exposure across management accounting, financial reporting, business partnering, controls and continuous improvement within a complex international business.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality financial information.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements within a US-listed business environment.
  • Lead forecasting, budgeting and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) activities across your areas of responsibility.
  • Deliver insightful variance analysis and performance reporting to support effective decision-making.
  • Partner with project managers, operational leaders, procurement and sales teams to improve business performance.
  • Provide financial challenge and support to operational and commercial stakeholders.
  • Support internal and external audit activities and maintain a strong controls environment.
  • Assist with SOX compliance and governance requirements.
  • Monitor business performance, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and reporting.
  • Leverage tools such as Dynamics 365, Power BI, AI and automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual activity.
  • Contribute to wider finance transformation and integration initiatives across the Baker Hughes organisation.
What Do You Bring?

An ideal candidate would likely have the following profile:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS or equivalent).
  • Experience within management accounting, financial reporting or finance business partnering roles.
  • Strong forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis capability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • A commercial mindset with the confidence to challenge, influence and support decision-making.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power BI.
  • Experience applying AI, automation or data-driven solutions to improve finance processes and reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with finance systems and reporting tools.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within demanding reporting deadlines

We've put together some criteria that we think is important for this role, but don't worry if your experience and expertise isn't an exact match. If you feel that you can add value to our role and to Howden more broadly, we would welcome your application and be eager to learn more about you.
