Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close and management accounts preparation.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow.
• Ensure compliance and audit trails for VAT returns.
• Develop a team of two Accounts Assistants.
• Drive improvements in processes and reporting.
• Line management and development of two direct reports.
• Oversee accounts payable processing.
• Drive continuous improvements across processes, controls and reporting.

Skills

ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified

Proven month-end reporting and analysis skills

Previous experience in a Management Accountant role

Our client, a specialist retail group based in Preston with a £50m turnover and offices across Europe, is entering an exciting period of growth. As part of their continued expansion, they are looking to appoint a Management Accountant to build out the finance function and work closely with the Financial Controller as the business scales.

About the Role Reporting into the Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of month end reporting and develop a small team of 2 Accounts Assistants.

Your Core Responsibilities in the Management Accountant Position Will Include:

• Ownership of month-end close and preparation of management accounts
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Cashflow management, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Providing insightful commentary to help drive decision-making
• Take ownership of VAT return preparation, review, and submission, maintaining strong compliance and audit trails
• Line management and development of two direct reports
• Oversee effective Accounts Payable processing
• Drive continuous improvements across processes, controls and reporting

Key Skills and Experience Required

• ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified (QBE also considered with strong experience)
• Proven month-end reporting and analyse skills
• Previous experience in a Management Accountant role
• Confident ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
• An interest in developing people and shaping a growing finance team
