Job description

Connexus is proud to be partnering with a long-established and respected family-run business in the Agri-supply sector. With a solid reputation for delivering high-quality animal feed and agricultural products, our client is seeking a detail-driven and commercially astute Company Accountant to join their senior management team.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced Financial Controller or Senior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can take full ownership of all financial functions, from day-to-day operations to strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to business strategy and operational decisions.
  • Lead and manage the Finance and Admin function to ensure accuracy, compliance, and commercial focus.
  • Oversee payroll, tax submissions, and pension contributions across the business.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, manage company risk, and ensure corporate governance compliance.
  • Prepare and present quarterly management accounts to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external auditors, manage audits, and support stock takes.
  • Oversee debtor and creditor ledgers, credit control, and cashflow forecasting.
  • Handle all HMRC and cross-border revenue submissions (UK VAT, RoI VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales, RDCO).
  • Support commercial contract negotiations and manage company insurance and Companies House filings.
  • Provide financial insight to improve systems, profitability, and productivity.
  • Oversee HR and IT functions to ensure alignment with business needs.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CMA or CPA).
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar financial leadership role.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and supporting senior stakeholders.
  • Sector experience in agriculture, manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Proactive, commercially minded, and comfortable challenging the status quo.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
