Key Responsibilities:
- Support and Collaborate: Work closely with the Director of Finance and Business Unit Leaders to provide essential financial and management reporting.
- Optimize Results: Challenge Business Unit and Business Leaders to optimize results, ensuring the highest level of profitability.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with central functions to identify improvement opportunities and implement changes that elevate process performance and control standards.
- Profit Improvement: Drive profit improvement initiatives within the Business Units.
- Financial Controls: Implement and enhance financial controls and management reporting within Business Units.
General Responsibilities:
As a Management Accountant, you will oversee sector transactions that contribute to management accounts, deliver local P&L reports, and provide financial and statistical KPI data for the leadership team. Your responsibilities include:
- Producing timely and accurate management financial information, including weekly and monthly reporting.
- Ensuring the regular and accurate reconciliation of local reports and central accounts to maintain consistent and robust data.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of cost and revenue drivers and their impact on financial results.
- Providing analysis and insights into business performance to drive profitability, cash delivery, and strategic goals, to support leadership team in decision-making processes.
- Interpreting customer and supplier contracts to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with central teams to improve financial systems and controls while nurturing a high-performance finance culture focused on excellence and growth.
- Ensuring sector compliance with corporate standards and financial controls to mitigate risks.
- Collaborating with the team to prepare budgets and forecasts, along with ongoing variance reporting.
- Building financial awareness in non-financial managers to empower them to impact business performance positively.
- Perform additional ad-hoc duties as required by senior management to support business objectives.
To excel in this role, you will need to:
- Experience in shaping cross-function decision making, particularly with operational/commercial team.
- Understand freight forwarding industry or keen to learn.
- Adhere to and assure compliance with management accounts processes.
- Possess advanced analytical abilities, including variance analysis, trend identification, and error resolution.
- Approach challenges and problems with a detailed and logical mindset.
- Work well under time pressure and consistently meet deadlines while maintaining high standards of output.
You will be responsible for:
- Driving the development of local P&L reporting and metrics to ensure focus and improvement.
- Providing consolidated sector reporting.
- Developing and implementing management information reporting and sector-relevant business intelligence.
- Ensuring financial controls are in place across the sector.
- Assuring adherence to all financial schedules and deadlines.
- Optimizing finance-related business processes, including purchase orders, sales invoicing, debtor control, and cash flow.
Key Skills/Attributes:
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
- Previous relevant experience with a proven track record of adding value to an organisation.
- Full qualification or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA with plans to qualify in the next year.
- Advanced Excel skills, basic knowledge Power BI and keen to learn AI tools.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to building strong working relationships across all areas of the business.
