Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in management accounting and reporting processes.
  • Qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience in fund accounting is desirable.

Reporting to the Head of FP&A, the Management Accountant will build and maintain relationships across the Trust to enable business partnering, supporting decision-making through analysis and contributing to the overall mission, vision and values of Somerset House.

What we are looking for:

1. Reporting, budgeting and forecasting
Provide financial reporting and analytical support, including:

  • Delivering high quality, accurate and fit-for-purpose management reports to a tight deadline, including monthly management accounts
  • Interpreting and analysing financial and non-financial information as part of the management reporting process, offering insightful commentary as required
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring queries are resolved promptly
  • Monthly fund reconciliation (restricted, unrestricted, designated)
  • Assisting the Head of FP&A to deliver accurate and robust budget, forecast and three-year plans including intelligent analysis, to a tight timetable.
  • Assist with year-end processes, analysis and queries from external auditors.
2. Business support and analysis (Business Partnering)
  • Delivering ad hoc reporting and analysis for all departments as required, including post-event evaluations and analysis using financial and ticketing data.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships and levels of customer service across the Trust, championing a responsive and ‘right first time’ approach.
  • Supporting the Head of FP&A in improvement of the finance system in relation to management reporting and analysis module.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties, in line with role requirements

Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role:

Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in management accounting and reporting processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present numbers to non-financial colleagues.
  • A team player with a flexible, “can do” attitude, forward thinker and takes initiative to solve problems.
  • Strong organisational skills: able to manage varied workload, able to work independently and prioritise tasks.
  • Having a “continuous improvement” mindset, questioning processes and investigating better alternative ways of working within the role.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software packages.
  • Experience in fund accounting is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, Pivot table).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Business partnering experience in a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation.
  • Working knowledge of databases.
