About The Role
We are looking for a finance professional to deliver an outstanding finance business partnering service to our academic and professional service areas.
The Management Accountant is a critical position within the University of Leicester's finance team, responsible for driving excellence in financial management and reporting. This role focuses on delivering timely and accurate monthly management accounts, developing robust forecasting models, and inputting into a dynamic budgeting process to support the university’s strategic and operational objectives.
As a trusted Business Partner to academic and professional service departments, the Management Accountant will provide insightful analysis, identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, and help ensure resources are allocated effectively. The post-holder will play a key role in enhancing financial sustainability, fostering collaboration across Colleges, Schools, and Professional Services Divisions, and enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the university. The post-holder will work proactively with their budget-holders to anticipate needs and identify areas for financial improvement.
The role is part of a team of Management Accountants and Assistant Management Accountants working together to deliver proactive and high-quality services to a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the University.
About You
To be suitable for the role, you will be a qualified accountant, preferably with a degree or HND in a relevant discipline, with relevant working experience. You will have experience of providing professional advice in large and complex organisations. A demonstrable capacity to contribute to business planning and decision support, as well as excellent analysis, integrated thinking, and influence skills will be essential. You will have proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts and the implications of financial decisions to stakeholders. Good interpersonal and time management skills and the ability to influence others will be required. Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, in order to manage activities and projects, are essential aspects of the role. Highly developed digital skills are required.
