My client are one of the biggest in their sector and have over a quarter of market share within UK. Turning over millions of pounds each year, they have a big UK finance team based in South Manchester to ensure everything is accurate and efficiently produced, end-end.

Senior management within this business are transparent, fair, and passionate about presenting progression opportunities and a pathway for people to have continued success for many years. Having retained many of the existing team for a long time, there is now a real appetite to recruit externally to bring in diversity of thought and a new way of working for the team and the processes around month end etc.

Description

This Management Accountant role is not about coming in and fulfilling a process, my clients are looking for someone to come in, analyse processes, and in doing your role, find new ways of working and more efficient processes to deliver.

• End-end management accounts in compliance with internal control guidelines and review requirements. Provide meaningful commentary & analysis to meet the group timetable and the needs of the management team.
• Be the trusted overall expert on all financial aspects of the product books in remit, ready to partner, influence and be called on as required by both finance colleagues and the wider business.
• Provide direction and take responsibility for the reconciliation of Back Office accounting to the P&L created by the Middle Office Risk team.
• Actively own the forecast and business planning process for product books in remit, ensuring assumptions are aligned with your knowledge of the
• business areas and are representative of the latest directions of the key stakeholders and Leadership Team.
• Identify areas for improvement across the Finance function which impacts data fed into, or created by, the team.
• Build strong relationships within the Finance function, Middle Office Risk team, operational teams and relevant Leadership Team.

Profile

• Experience in management accounting
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Sound Excel skills
• Possesses and demonstrates real analytical skill and can apply a logical approach to new challenges
• Be a strong communicator and possess an ability to develop trusting and credible relationships at all levels of the business, to Executive level, and to respect different opinions and ideas
• Have a questioning and inquisitive mind - not afraid to ask questions or challenge convention, nor to drive improvements and efficiencies as appropriate
• Takes personal responsibility and accountability for their work - you will own everything reported
• Able to analyse and interpret significant quantities of financial data and relate back to business issues.
• Be flexible and adaptable - this is a senior role within one of the largest teams in Finance and there will be times it will be required to step up and move out of their comfort zone
