Job description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join the finance team of a London based Not-for-Profit organisation. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the preparation of financial reports and management accounts, ensuring accuracy in all financial processes including prepayments, accruals, fixed asset maintenance, and year-end reporting. This is a hands-on role suited for a qualified accountant with a strong understanding of the Not-for-Profit sector.

Role: Management Accountant

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Start Date: An immediate start with interviews taking place w/c 14/04

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monthly Management Accounts:
    1. Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts
    2. Assist in variance analysis and provide insightful commentary
  2. Prepayments and Accruals:
    1. Calculate and post monthly accruals and prepayments
    2. Maintain supporting schedules and ensure correct allocation of expenses
  3. Fixed Assets:
    1. Maintain the fixed asset register
    2. Process asset additions, disposals, and depreciation journals
    3. Reconcile fixed asset balances and ensure compliance with internal policies
  4. Year-End Accounts:
    1. Assist in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts
    2. Provide audit support and liaise with external auditors
    3. Ensure all year-end adjustments are accurately processed
  5. General Ledger:
    1. Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
    2. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  6. Budgeting & Forecasting:
    1. Support the budgeting and forecasting processes
    2. Assist with financial modelling and scenario analysis
  7. Process Improvement:
    1. Identify opportunities to improve reporting and control processes
    2. Support system improvements and automation initiatives
