Job summary

Legal & General Affordable Homes is seeking a newly qualified Management Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, controls and informed decision-making across the business.

You’ll prepare management information, support month-end, partner with colleagues, and drive attention to detail, governance and continuous improvement. This role also involves budgeting, forecasting and collaboration with development teams.

Qualifications

• A newly qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of financial and management accounting principles.
• Experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close activities and prepare journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse financial performance and highlight variances, risks and opportunities.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting and wider business planning.
• Maintain robust financial controls and governance processes.
• Engage with audits and support financial process improvements.

Job Description

We’re looking for a newly qualified Management Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls and informed decision-making across Legal & General Affordable Homes.

You’ll play an important role in preparing management information, supporting month-end activities and partnering with colleagues across the business. This is an opportunity to build your experience in a collaborative environment where attention to detail, sound judgement and continuous improvement are valued.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting month-end close activities and preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments
• Preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting analysis
• Analysing financial performance and highlighting key variances, risks and opportunities
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and wider business-planning activities
• Maintaining effective financial controls and following agreed governance and approval processes
• Assisting with statutory accounts, tax, VAT, regulatory and lender reporting requirements
• Partnering with operational and development teams to provide clear financial guidance and respond to queries
• Supporting internal and external audits while helping to document and improve financial processes and controls

Who we’re looking for:

• A newly qualified accountant with an ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
• A strong understanding of financial and management accounting principles
• Experience preparing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
• Advanced Excel skills and the confidence to work with detailed financial information
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively
• A collaborative approach with clear communication and effective stakeholder-management skills
• Experience in housing, real estate, property development or asset management, or knowledge of an ERP system such as COINS, would be beneficial
