Job description

Due to maternity leave within the team, an excellentopportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and flexibleprofessional to temporarily join our finance team as a Management Accountant working withinthe Finance Systems function.

The Finance Systems team oversees vital daily operations,focusing on the seamless functioning of financial processes. They troubleshootissues and collaborate with departments for data analysis. Managing systemupgrades, reconciling financial data and generating reports to enhancefinancial transparency. The team ensures accurate and reliable financialinfrastructure, supporting informed decision-making and streamliningorganisational processes.

As the Management Accountant heading upthe Finance Systems Team, you contribute towards the planning andprioritisation the teams objectives, identifying and allocating tasks asrequired. You will be a key contributor towards the departments success throughyour work to develop and improve our data and data reporting processes by workingcollaboratively with colleagues and other Trust system leads to ensure systemsare aligned.

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate will have skills andexperience in some or all of the following areas: finance systems (ERPs) andfinance reporting, Microsoft Visual Basic, SQL, Project Management and Power BI/datavisualisation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a key member of the Finance team with responsibility to provide and manage the day to day running of the finance systems team having specific responsibility for providing systems support to services across the Trust, ensuring robust controls are in place to provide a good standard, accurate, timely and relevant financial information.

The post holder will have the ability to interpret complex data and present it to a range of stakeholders. They will be able to identify process inefficiencies and suggest and implement improvements through collaborative working as well as effectively managing changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The post holder will be responsible for the allocation of work within the systems team, ensuring efficiencies maximised by the automation of systems where appropriate, generic tasks are identified and efficiently managed and resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.

They will also line manage members of the finance systems team, and be required to work alongside other management accountants across the finance team as well as colleagues from other departments to achieve departmental objectives.

Experience
  • Experience of line and performance management of staff
  • Experience of working for at least three years in an accountancy role including at least two years in a staff management role.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
Knowledge
  • Full understanding of the principles of accounting
  • Specialist knowledge of, and ability to apply and advise others of professional accounting standards
  • Detailed knowledge of computerised accounting systems and advanced knowledge of Excel or similar
