Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be responsible for preparing management accounts, managing the accounting of specific business functions, and ensuring that controls, reconciliations, related transactions, and HMRC reporting obligations are managed accurately and promptly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of management accounts for allocated business units.
  • Prepare, analyze, and report on KPIs for the finance function and the wider business.
  • Provide internal weekly and monthly reporting for specified business areas, including explanations and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Work with business colleagues to accurately record and reconcile processes within the ERP system, utilizing supplementary tools and supplier portals as needed.
  • Maintain and update pricing and calculation master data tables within the ERP system.
  • Participate actively in audits, crop reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Prepare and submit allocated monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
  • Reconcile energy pairing transactions.
  • Support grant claims and complete grant submissions.
  • Regularly update and review cash position and forecasts.
  • Handle intercompany and group transactions and reconciliations.
  • Cross-train in transactional areas to provide high-level cover during absences.
  • Participate in systems development and process improvements to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as directed by the Financial Controller and Financial Accounting Manager.

The ideal candidate:

  • Will be ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified or part-qualified.
  • Possesses advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation, lookups, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, is productive both as a team player and independently, and can work under pressure.
  • Has experience working within an accounting department of an established company using an ERP system.
