Management Accountant

About the Role:

We are seeking a Qualified, experienced Accountant to join a growing team in Cardiff. This role will play a key part in the finance function by providing valuable management information, month and year-end reporting, and ensuring accurate forecasting and budgetary controls. The successful candidate will work closely with both finance and operational teams to drive efficiencies, optimize processes, and contribute to the company's financial success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  2. Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance versus budget and forecasts.
  3. Develop and manage budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  4. Prepare accurate financial reports and data analysis to support decision-making across departments.
  5. Support senior management by preparing financial models and projections to guide strategic planning.
  6. Monitor and control departmental expenditure and assist in cost-saving initiatives.
  7. Maintain and improve financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  8. Collaborate with internal teams to streamline reporting processes and enhance data accuracy.
  9. Prepare year-end audit files and liaise with external auditors.
  10. Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required.

Requirements:

  1. Accounting Qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  2. Proven experience in a similar role
  3. Strong analytical skills with an ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial accounting software.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  7. A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.
