The Role

Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director and working closely with senior leadership, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial stability. This role combines strategic oversight with day-to-day operational responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for day-to-day financial operations.
• Monthly management accounts with detailed commentary and analysis.
• Annual budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Payroll administration for staff and players.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
• Supervision of an existing bookkeeper.
• Oversight of ticketing systems and reconciliations.
• Liaising with auditors, directors, and external stakeholders.

About You

We are seeking a fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA) with proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior accounting role. Exposure to both practice and industry environments is desirable.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Commercially astute, highly organised, and detail-focused.
• Confident in financial systems and Excel (Sage experience advantageous).
• Comfortable working across all levels of finance - from high-level reporting to hands-on tasks.
• Flexible and proactive, with the ability to support matchday operations when required.
