We’re now on the lookout for a Management Accountant who can bring accuracy, commercial insight, and financial control to help take us to the next level. Brief Overview:

Permanent Opportunity: Full Time

Basic Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Birmingham, B2

Requirements

• Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
  
• Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to explain deviations from budget and forecast, providing insightful commentary to stakeholders.
  
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
  
• Cost Control: Monitor business costs and margins, identifying areas for improvement and supporting operational efficiency initiatives.
  
• Financial Reporting: Deliver financial performance reports to internal stakeholders, ensuring clarity and actionable insights are provided.
  
• Business Partnering: Work closely with departmental heads to support financial understanding, challenge assumptions, and guide decision-making.
  
• Month-End Close: Oversee and support the month-end close process, ensuring all journals, accruals, and prepayments are accurately accounted for.
  
• Audit & Compliance: Support external auditors and ensure all compliance obligations and financial controls are adhered to.
  
• Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  

To have the ability to contribute to The Fuel Store’s success, you will need:

• Professional Experience: Proven experience as a Management Accountant or similar role within a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
  
• Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  
• Financial Systems Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and experience with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, Sage, NetSuite).
  
• Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
  
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and diligence in all areas of financial reporting and analysis.
  
• Commercial Awareness: A strong understanding of financial performance drivers, particularly in an SME or growth business context.
  
• Organisation & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision.
