Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term/secondment Management Accountant based at Ailsa Hospital.
What You Will Do
- Supporting our North Health and Social Care Partnership, who deliver Health services to the population of North Ayrshire, who also lead on the delivery Mental Health Services for the whole of Ayrshire & Arran. You will be providing professional, efficient and effective financial services to a range of stakeholders on a daily basis
- Build effective relationships and working collaboratively and constructively with multi-professional teams across your portfolio of responsibility.
- Demonstrate sound technical accounting expertise and an understanding of our governance to assist in the preparation of the annual budget, forecasts, costings, Government returns, annual accounts, audit and more routinely, monthly management reports, alongside meeting with budget managers and their teams to aid effective decision making and gather information on detailed projections.
- Your analysis will be key in our decision-making so your ability to draw insight, present and challenge is just as important as the technical know-how, this means having excellent communication skills as well as analytical skills.
- Provide clear, meaningful data to enable Senior Managers and Budget Holders to be able to make well-informed, timely decisions around budgets, service delivery and the management of budget pressures, savings and efficiencies.
- Provide leadership to your direct reports, managing, developing and getting the best from your team will help you deliver on your own objectives.
- Bring new ideas on how we can perform better, do things differently and learn from best practice.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
- The post requires advanced technical accountancy skills in all aspects of “business” finance and a clear knowledge and understanding of such tools and concepts as financial modelling, business case production and financial analysis. This should be underpinned with detailed practical knowledge, skills and experience in financial accounting, management accounting and reporting. The skills and knowledge required will usually be obtained by means of studying towards a professional qualification in accountancy (part-qualified CCAB accountant) together with substantial experience in the fields of business finance and management accounting. The application of these skills within the NHS setting will require a working knowledge of the NHS together with a broad understanding of clinical and non-clinical services and the infrastructure and approach to frontline service provision. A detailed knowledge of the NHS financial planning regime and financial governance framework, together with a broad knowledge of all aspects of the finance function will also be required.
- Developed knowledge and experience of computerised ledger systems, chart of accounts and coding structures, reconciliations, preparation of annual accounts, application of financial control processes and payments processing. Proficiency in a range of computer applications, particularly spreadsheets and databases is also required.
- Operating in a multi-disciplinary environment the post requires developed communication skills to effectively present and convey financial advice and information to audiences who may largely be from a non-finance background. Wider management skills required will include presentation and report writing skills and a proven ability to cope with demanding and variable workloads.
