Job summary

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications from qualified Mammographers to join its Breast Imaging Service at Bolton Royal Hospital and satellite sites in Bolton centre, Radcliffe and Rochdale. The role involves delivering high‑quality mammography, supporting interventional procedures, and contributing to service development.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, perform QC tests, participate in CPD, and help maintain excellent patient care across the Bolton Breast Imaging service

Qualifications

• Hold PG Cert in Mammography Practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, friendly with good organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a high standard of mammography for all patients attending breast imaging.
• Assist in interventional procedures alongside Enhanced/Advanced Practitioners (e.g., core biopsies, VABs, localisations).
• Undertake daily, weekly and monthly quality control tests per the department's QA programme and report equipment issues promptly.
• Engage in regular self-assessment and peer review as part of service audit and CPD.

We would like to hear from self-motivated, enthusiastic Mammographers who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within our busy Breast Imaging Service. Candidates must hold PG Cert in Mammography Practice.

The successful applicant will be reliable, friendly, and hardworking withexcellent organisational and communication skills.The ability to integrate well with the existing team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement is essential.Excellent concentration skills, attention to detail with the ability to empathise with and understand client/patient needs.

Bolton Breast Imaging is committed to providing high quality care for all clients/patients attending for Breast Imaging. Imaging is undertaken for Bolton Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services, delivered at the base site at Bolton Royal Hospital, and at our 3 satellite sites in Bolton centre, Radcliffe and Rochdale.

The service fully supports skill mix, with Consultant, Advanced, Enhanced and Assistant/Associate Practitioners. We are a progressive service and are supportive and actively promote continued professional development.

The role of a Mammographer is to provide and maintain a high standard of mammography for all patients and clients attending for breast imaging. To work alongside Enhanced and Advanced Practitioners in interventional procedures assisting in core biopsies, VAB’s and localisations. To undertake daily, weekly and monthly quality control tests in line with the department’s quality assurance programme and report any equipment malfunction or image deterioration promptly. Regular self-assessment and peer review of performance associated with service audit is integral to the role as is continual professional development (CPD).
