Overview

Job Title: Male Support Worker

Location: West Heath, Birmingham (B31)

Salary: £11.54 per hour

Hours: 4x Full Time, 1x Part Time - Days & Waking Nights

For genuine occupational reasons, we are looking to appoint a male candidate only (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9).

Please note - previous experience with autism, OCD, and understanding/awareness of ADHD & personality disorders is essential for this role.

Your day will be filled with fun activities, social engagement, and providing one-to-one support for adults with mental health, learning disabilities, and autism. You will take our people out on adventures, assist with daily tasks, and encourage them to live their lives to the fullest!

What will the job involve?

  • Assisting our people to improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Offering stimulation and motivation through conversation and social activity.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
  • Booking and attending health care appointments with our people.
  • Reporting any safeguarding concerns to the management team.
  • Maintaining records by keeping care plans and risk assessments up to date.

What you will possess:

  • Previous experience of working with autism (ideally non-verbal), mental health, and challenging behaviours.
  • The passion to support people in their day-to-day lives, promoting their independence.
  • Patience, care, and understanding.
  • Ability to set clear boundaries.
  • Outgoing, engaging, and enthusiastic.
