Job summary

Gray Healthcare are recruiting a Male Support Worker to assist a gentleman with Organic Personality Disorder and brain injury in the Salford area of Manchester. The role involves 24-hour supported living with a male-only team and a 3x12 hour shift pattern including days and waking nights, plus paid sleep-ins.

A UK manual driving license is essential to access the community using a mobility vehicle. We offer a comprehensive induction and training, competitive salary, pension, Westfield Health

Qualifications

  • Full UK Manual Driving License – Essential.
  • Social care experience, ideally within Mental health and with some experience of supporting individuals with Brain injuries.
  • Experience supporting individuals with behaviours perceived as challenging.
  • Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
  • Experience adapting communication skills, verbal and non-verbal, to aid understanding of the supported individual.
  • Motivated to promote engagement in meaningful activity.
  • A desire to support the individual in their cultural and spiritual needs.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months.
  • This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Responsibilities

  • Support a Gentleman in the Salford area with 24-hour care in a 2:2:1 model.
  • Operate within a male-only team on day and waking night shifts; some sleeps.
  • Assist with mobility needs using a vehicle and driving responsibilities.
  • Provide support with fitness, gym, community outings and football activities.

Job description

Gray Healthcare are recruiting a Male Support Worker, within the Salford area of Manchester, to support a Gentleman who has a diagnosis of Organic Personality Disorder and an acquired brain injury .

The person we support lives independently in his own home receiving 2:2:1 support 24 hours a day.

The person is supported by a male only team on shifts of days and waking nights / sleep ins

The person we support enjoys fitness, gym, going out in the community and enjoys football.

We are recruiting UK manual drivers only for this role as the individual we support will have a mobility vehicle to access the community .

Male Support Worker Required Skills and Experience

Working Hours

36 hour contract 3 x 12 hour days shifts from 8am to 8pm + 2 sleeps paid @ £100per sleep (Alternative weekends)

Induction and Training

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training. (Company induction, systems, and Medication.) Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominant approaches . You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting . Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
