Job Description:

Rehabilitation Support Worker

Location: Liverpool

Salary: Up to £13.00 per hour

Hours: Various hours

Here is your opportunity to start a career in rehabilitation support work. No prior experience in care or support roles is required as we provide full induction, specialist training, and coaching. Working in brain injury rehabilitation involves encouraging and guiding individuals to gain skills and confidence for independent living. You will share in their journey as they overcome hurdles, achieve milestones, and reach their personal goals. Many stay for about three months before moving on, making a significant impact in that time.

Why join us?

Brainkind is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. Our services use expert neurorehabilitation to support recovery from various brain injuries, helping individuals meet their personal goals. Our passionate team fosters a supportive, collaborative environment.

The Role

This role is based at Redford Court/Lodge, a 29-bed service in Liverpool, split between two buildings. The main unit has 24 beds, including flatlets and self-contained flats, and the second unit, Redford Court Lodge, has 5 beds. The service provides rehabilitation for individuals with acquired brain injuries, addressing cognitive, behavioral, physical, and emotional challenges. The average stay is 12 weeks, with ongoing support for longer-term needs.

You will be trained to provide personalized support, following individual plans to develop independent living skills such as personal hygiene, meal prep, exercise, leisure, and social activities. Support may also involve hands-on personal care, including bathing and attending to physical needs, guided by therapists. The role involves organizing and participating in a variety of activities both within the service and in the local community, such as art, music, sports, gardening, shopping, and swimming. The service is located a 20-minute bus ride from Liverpool city center and the Albert Dock.

If you are interested in building a career, we will support your development every step of the way.

About you

We are not looking for specific experience. The key qualities are your personality and values, which will make you a good fit for the role and our charity. We can train you to become a great rehabilitation support worker if you:

  • Have genuine empathy for residents, with positivity, patience, and resilience during their rehabilitation
  • Enjoy teamwork and take pride in your work
  • Possess excellent face-to-face communication skills and good literacy
  • Have good time management skills and can prioritize your workload

You can look forward to excellent benefits, including discounts on many brands and services:

  • A competitive rate of up to £13.00 per hour
  • 33 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro-rata)
  • Access to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Training and support

  • Group life assurance
  • Eye voucher scheme
  • Long service and staff awards
