This is an excellent opportunity to join the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) in a key support role. You’ll play an essential part in ensuring ambulance vehicles and equipment are fully prepared for use - helping frontline teams deliver safe and responsive care across the South East Division. Responsibilities
- Contribute to ensuring the highest standards of environmental cleanliness within designated area of work
- Contribute to the readiness of the NIAS fleet by ensuring vehicles are stocked, cleaned, in good state of repair and road worthy
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained both in the interior and exterior of vehicles in line with agreed standards
- Ensure on-board equipment such as medical devices are clean, functioning and in good state of repair
- Drive / move vehicles within and between stations to facilitate cleaning / decontamination
- Undertake Vehicle Daily Inspection (VDI) checks on lights, wiper blades, fluid levels etc and report defects / organise repair where appropriate
- Ensure that cleaning equipment is clean, in good state of repair and stored correctly whilst not in use
- Dispose of waste / sharps in accordance with NIAS policy and procedure. Replenish household / clinical waste as required
- Identify areas where improvement is required and promote innovation where possible
- To monitor / replenish supplies within each operational vehicle / stock room while ensuring stock rotation is in place
Skills and Qualifications
- 3 GCSEs (Grades A-C / 9-4) including English and 1 year’s experience in a service/support discipline role
- Or relevant NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 and 1 year’s experience
- Or 3 years’ experience in a service/support role
- Hold or be able to present evidence of Category C1 driving licence before starting
- Willingness to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Flexible to travel between base locations
- Effective communication and basic numeracy skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain confidentiality
- Able to work on own initiative and prioritise workload
