Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is recruiting an Attendance and Welfare Officer for a supportive school in High Wycombe. You will monitor attendance, engage with pupils and families, and support safeguarding and welfare across the pastoral and admin team.

You will work with staff, parents and external agencies to promote good attendance, maintain accurate records, and participate in attendance meetings. DBS disclosure is required as part of safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school environment or pastoral admin is desirable.
• Knowledge of attendance procedures and safeguarding is essential.
• Proficiency with school MIS systems (SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom) and strong communication.
• Ability to handle sensitive conversations with discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily pupil attendance and follow up unexplained absences.
• Contact parents/carers regarding attendance concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
• Identify patterns of persistent absence and escalate concerns.
• Support attendance meetings and prepare relevant documentation.
• Liaise with pastoral teams, external agencies and families as needed.

About the Role

You will work closely with school staff, pupils and parents to monitor attendance, identify concerns and encourage positive engagement with education.

• An enhanced DBS check will be required in line with the role.
