The role: Maintrol Technical Engineer

We are looking to recruit highly motivated candidates to join our MAINTROL team within the Engineering organisation. Our MAINTROL engineers support the entire BA Mainline fleet as well as the BA Euroflyer fleet. Successful candidates will be based at our Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) at the BA HQ in Waterside (Heathrow airport).

Please Note: The Maintrol team supports our 24/7 operation working 8-hour shifts (Early, Late, Night) and 12-hour shifts (Day, Night).

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of aircraft recovery work parties, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
  • Overseeing recovery of AOG aircraft worldwide, ensuring safe and efficient return to service
  • Improving aircraft and engineering performance using monitoring and prognostic tools
  • Analyzing safety reports and repetitive defects
  • Providing on-site technical support with regard to safety, technical, regulatory, and commercial standards
  • Ensuring availability of approved data for safe maintenance, repair, or modification of aircraft engines and components
  • Following technical procedures to meet safety, technical, and cost targets, and improving aircraft technical performance
  • Supporting business development and change initiatives
  • Leading technical discussions and supporting decision-making
  • Coordinating activities at line stations to minimize delays and AOG recovery time
  • Enhancing aircraft performance through proactive monitoring and defect analysis

Qualifications and skills:

  • Project management and prioritization skills
  • Strong team and communication skills, especially under pressure
  • Technical decision-making and problem analysis capabilities
  • Self-motivated with adaptability to change
  • Operational experience and supplier management
  • In-depth fleet and aircraft systems knowledge, including mechanical and avionics

Experience required:

  • CAA/EASA or BA approvals
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering
  • Recognized Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • B1/B2 Licence without Type rating
  • Ability to hold EASA Part 145 and Part 21 approvals as required
