Overview

INTERVIEWS TO BE HELD: THURSDAY 23 OCTOBER 2025

This role is integral to Roundabout providing high quality accommodation to young people aged 16 – 25 years.

Responsibilities
  • To work as part of a team and also on your own initiative to carry out general maintenance, repairs, decorating, and lock changes within Roundabout’s properties which may be occupied or void.
  • To complete repairs and general maintenance to a high standard in a range of properties across various sites in Rotherham and Sheffield. Including carpentry, door hanging, changing locks, basic plumbing, and redecoration.
  • To report repairs that are Landlords/Housing Associations responsibility to Line -Manager and feedback when these are completed.
  • To complete maintenance tasks within agreed timescales and to the required standards.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, adopting safe working practices in accordance with Roundabout’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • To advise line managers on any issues relating to health and safety in their area.
  • Ensure that all administrative procedures & systems are followed.
  • To work within the policies and procedures of Roundabout.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities with the post.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of young people and an ability to communicate to young people who use our services.
  • Report any safeguarding issues.
Person Specification

Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Practical DIY or trade skills in a range of areas
  • Excellent attention to detail and a highly organised approach to work
  • Over 25, and hold a clean driving license for more than 12 months
  • Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety
  • Have an understanding of supported housing or working in a service which supports vulnerable people
  • Can work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Have an understanding of safeguarding
  • Good communicator to a range of different audiences
