Job Summary:

The Warehouse Clerk Maintenance will support multiple grocery store locations by performing routine maintenance tasks, ensuring a clean and safe environment for customers and employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, minor repairs, and equipment upkeep.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections of store facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Report any significant maintenance issues or potential hazards to the Maintenance Manager promptly.
  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Order and restock supplies to ensure all stores have the materials for routine upkeep.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events or promotions.
  • Provide support for emergency maintenance situations as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and supply inventory.
  • Update maintenance logs and submit reports to the Maintenance Manager regularly.
  • Work closely with store managers and staff to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting store operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders by addressing maintenance concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair skills.
  • Proficiency in using essential maintenance tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and cleaning machines.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Communicate effectively with the maintenance manager and other team members to coordinate tasks and share important information about maintenance needs.

Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across various store locations.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with store staff and customers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
  • Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
  • Climb ladders or scaffolding to perform specific maintenance tasks at elevated heights.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
  • Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
  • Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.

Work Conditions:

  • Work Hours: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Environment: While primarily indoor and climate-controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation, duties may occasionally require outdoor work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Primary Work Stations: Primarily work within the grocery store environments, which include various sections such as the sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas.
  • Dress Code: Durable, comfortable clothing, such as work pants and a work shirt.
  • Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals at store locations.
  • Noise Level: Usually low to moderate, with occasional loud periods from customers, store announcements, and equipment.
  • Interaction: Constant interaction with team members in a fast-paced retail environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One to three years of Maintenance experience in a retail environment.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license for fleet insurability and travel between store sites.
