The role
Crown Paints invites you to become a part of our fantastic Multi-skilled Maintenance Team, working under the guidance of the Engineering Maintenance Manager at our Polymer Plant in Darwen, Blackburn.
This is a two-shift role.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Maintenance of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, heating, and ventilation systems, sometimes working within confined spaces and at heights.
- Identify, carry out, and record necessary changes to the Polymer Plant's preventative maintenance schedule.
- Attend regular meetings with Polymer Shift Leaders and Engineering management to discuss requirements and priorities for scheduled maintenance.
- Plan and execute scheduled maintenance work to improve production and asset utilization based on data from KPIs, RCM data gathering, lean initiatives, and downtime meetings.
- Contact plant and equipment manufacturers to obtain technical information for servicing and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Monitor developments in energy efficiency and consider their implementation at the Polymer Plant for cost savings.
- Contribute to engineering and production projects and assist with Capital Expenditure requests.
- Undertake routine 6S procedures and audits as required.
- Perform inspections, installations, and maintenance in accordance with IEC standards.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Time-served Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance technician with NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Practical knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical/electronic motion control systems.
- Understanding of PLC systems — ability to interrogate, identify, and correct errors.
- ATEX or COMPEX certification is desirable.
- Comprehensive understanding of current business functions including raw material movements, production, filtering, and tanker loading/offloading.
- Experience in installing and commissioning projects.
- Counterbalance FLT license.
- MEWP license, IOSH, and CompEx Ex & Ex11 certifications.
