Job description

The key function is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.

Main duties of the job

Ensure compliance with all processes, procedures, and policies that meet organisational standards/requirements, including but not limited to our Health & Safety Policy, HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda), and SFG20. Implement new or revised policies within your work areas. Deliver planned and reactive maintenance services from the PPM planner, ensuring operational standards are maintained. Duties may include fault finding, minor repairs or installations, and maintaining services and equipment within critical environments. Assess problems to determine the best course of action, including complex technical issues. Maintain effective site log books at NHS premises, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Job responsibilities

We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Technician - Plumbing based at Upton Hospital, Slough. The role offers a starting salary from £39,000 (depending on experience) plus on-call allowance. It is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. The role covers East Berkshire and Surrey.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Qualifications: At least one of the following:
  • BTEC City & Guilds plus relevant experience and training
  • NVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating Engineering or equivalent
  • Formal apprenticeship or craft-trained equivalent

Additional requirements:

  • Driving license is essential
  • Comfortable using technological devices to log jobs
  • On-Call availability
  • Industry experience is desirable
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team, collaborating with other technical disciplines

Note: DBS Checks & DVLA checks are required.

Key Responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Qualifications BTEC City & Guilds plus relevant experience and training
  • Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Install or Maintenance
  • Registered Approved Electrician with a formal apprenticeship or craft training
  • Current BS 7671 City & Guilds qualification
  • Full UK Driving License
  • City & Guilds 2391, 2396, IPAF/PASMA, and CSCS cards
Experience
  • Experience in building maintenance, working with method statements or permits, maintaining services to SFG20, and awareness of HTM standards
  • Experience with CAFM systems
