Job summary

Morson Talent is seeking Maintenance Technicians for a permanent night-shift role in Chester. You will contribute to the reliability and availability of the Class 197 fleet, performing planned modifications, overhaul work and repairs on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical and electrical modification programmes on rolling stock vehicles.
• Complete fleet campaign work in line with engineering instructions, technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs arising from damage, defects or vandalism.
• Complete overhaul and Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI) activities.
• Strip and refit train interiors as part of modification programmes.
• Install new equipment, components and cable looms, including cable routing and crimping.
• Modify vehicle structures and carry out functional testing of installed equipment.
• Work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and production improvement plans.
• Assist other production activities when required to meet operational demands.
• Occasionally travel to designated depots to support fleet activities

We are currently recruiting for a number of Maintenance Technicians to join one of the UKs leading rail rolling stock companies at their Chester depot. This is an exciting opportunity to secure a long-term contract with excellent rates of pay, working on one of the UKs newest passenger train fleets.

If youre an experienced engineering technician looking to develop your career within the rail sector, this role offers the opportunity to work on fleet improvements, vehicle modifications and overhaul projects that make a real difference to train reliability and performance.

The working hours are 21:00 to 07:00, Monday to Friday.

The Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in improving the reliability and availability of the Class 197 fleet through planned modification programmes, overhaul activities and repair work.

Working as part of a highly skilled production team, you will carry out a wide variety of engineering tasks across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
